DARK MECHA, WHO COULD ASK FOR MORE.

Shin Mazinger Zero is a reboot of the original Mazinger Z, the first manga to introduce the idea of a human pilot inside a mech. Cool right? This manga follows Kouji Kabuto, the pilot of Mazinger Z, who is sent to the past multiple times by an android each and every time humanity is wiped out. Even cooler concept right?

Execution wise, I believe Mazinger did an amazing job in diving into the multiple timeline troupe in a way that stayed intriguing throughout its short run time. I love how the different stories of each timeline were slowly sprinkled in to the reader in a way that left you begging for the next lore drop with each page turn. Outside of this story point, the story as a whole was enjoyable and well rounded. While it did have basic plot progression, the execution of a simple and straightforward story with sufficient plot twists is commendable in its own right. My only complaint would be the final battle dragging out a bitttttt to long, even for the short manga that it is.

Lastly, the art was phenomenal! What a striking art style, there was so much detail especially when on a grander scale giving me the same vibes of art from the likes of mangaka like Kentaro Miura. The designs of each of the characters was very striking, with facial expressions being fully brought to life in not only humans, but in Mazinger Z itself. What was absolutely incredible though was the large splashes of Kanji present within important scenes, giving an immense amount of impact whenever present. It truly did so much work in giving just the right amount of oomph to scenes.

Give Shin Mazinger Zero a read!! It's short, it's complete, it's slams you in the face with impact and character. Since I already know you are pulling it up, let me know your thoughts!
