Hello everyone dbook here. Here's a little update on books I'm currently reading and games I'm playing.
Lord of the Mysteries
I was reading this light novel in bed like I do every night, originally planning on using it to fall asleep. I did not fall asleep. The last words I read before turning off my phone was [End of the First Volume]. I felt empty. The first volume of LOTM easily landed on my 10/10 list. Is this recency bias. Probably. Do I care. Nah. This has easily been the most in depth world building I have ever read in my entire life. With this as well came the most well written and beautifully interwoven story threads I have ever experienced. I think the end of this first volume was a master class in setup for future volumes, with plenty of genuinely intriguing questions that had been pervasive through the entire read. I am now pretty deep in the second volume and it has kept up the same quality standard it set in the first.
Persona 4 - 35 hours
We so back REMAKE INBOUND BABY. I am replaying this god tier jrpg in preparation for the remake and it has still held up after all these years. I loved it the first time I played it and now I might even like it more than persona 3 portable on this second time through, we'll see. Even with the most recent renovations to the gameplay loop from Metaphor: Refantazio and Persona 5, P4G's gameplay has still stood the rest of time simply for the fast that they solved the gameplay formula when it first came out. The One More system and nonstop creation of new personas will always be addicting, even with the long and continuous dungeon design. The story though, that's what I play persona games for. There are very few games with a full casts of characters (the main characters+all social links) that can all be appreciated in some type of way. If you're playing persona games you really are playing for the strong character writing that is displayed throughout multiple small segments (kinda like my goat 13 sentinels). The main cast is truly just a bunch of good friends who were able to accept their true selves WITH THE SUPPORT OF OTHERS it's incredible.
Metaphor: Refantazio - 31 hours
It's great, wait for my review. Dual wielding SMT games man.
Fire Emblem Heroes
The gacha love is real. I have grinded out so much content from this game already while bored and I have an unholy amount of currency to summon as much as I want. Really though this just makes me want to play more fire emblem games once I'm done with metaphor and persona.
